Back in the day, when remedial students were taught in separate classrooms, class size wasn't as important as it appears today. Most students then were on the same level as their peers. Today, when so many students are mainstreamed, the slower kids require so much more attention it really taxes the teachers to provide have to explain certain concepts in triplicate to some...while others just mark time
