Parents deported to Mexico, their American kids struggle at school

Children born in the United States to Mexican immigrants are returning to Mexico with their parents, but struggle with a different language, economy and education. They're young American citizens with big dreams, but some worry the dramatic lifestyle and school change might put them at a disadvantage when they return to the United States.

Is everyone blind? Do you not see the correlation to 1930s Germany? Bad economy, occupation, persecution. You are being led by your government to the eventual downfall.

No, we do not see the correlation to 1930s Germany because there isn't any correlation. Don't try to confuse the readers to push your leftist agenda. In Germany, Jews were first openly discriminated by the people and government and could not turn to the police for protection. Then they were rounded up and sent to prison camps. In America, illegal immigrants get to go to schools, get free medical care and other government aid but not pay any taxes. Where is the correlation?

Democrats love legal and illegal immigrants because immigrants, when naturalized, mostly vote Democrat.
Republicans love legal and illegal immigrants because immigrants provide cheap labor for corporations which mostly support Republicans. The real losers are the American people. Unlike in the past when large portions of America needed to be settled, modern America cannot absorb 1 million plus immigrants each year. We need to criminalize illegal immigration and limit legal immigration to only where specific jobs are not being fulfilled by Americans and to spouses of legal immigrants.

And Obama will do anything to get their votes, even buying their votes with government aid, selling out the rest of us who have to pay for it.

Illegal immigrants get out. Start packing your bags, I'm sure the Native Americans would LOVE their land back.

Soooo illegals can go to American schools and get diplomas BUT Americans in Mexico can't go to Mexican schools and get dilomas. Nice double standard.

google Mexican Cartel Gore" to see what's coming to YOUR city soon.

A vote for obama is a vote for the mexicanization of the U.S.

Oh it gets way better than that. Try going into any Mexican governmental agency and ask for their publications in English. Pick up a Mexican telephone away from a tourist area and try talking to a business or social service agency in English.

Try getting a work permit without having to train a Mexican to do the job you are applying for the permit to do. It costs five to fifty times as much.

I guess the kids love America more than their parents. The kids should go back with the parents. Plain and simple.

Hispanic and people against the demonization of illegasl need to be more vocal than our frustrated fellow americans that do not have a job and are having a hard time trying to make a living. For them, the perfect scape goat is the illegal immigrant. And they are loud. Hispanics are not a monolithic group, therefore there is more indifference among them. Many of them are out of work too, and feel threatened as well by illegals with less education and little english. But if we let this group of americans have their way, the pattern will continue just. First it was the muslims, later other groups will be targeted and it will be more common, and we will look at this kind of bullying as normal. It should not be that way.

CitizenbyChoice, Americans have every right to protect the sovereignty of their country. This has nothing to do with any race. We have immigration laws and we expect them to be adhered to. So stop with the race card. Frankly we are tired of seeing illegals protesting their rights in our streets. Guess what they have no rights and that only angers the American citizens!

No child has the opportunity to choose his/her parents. The child should not be punished for the parents' mistakes. I teach some of these children in community college and they work just as hard or harder than the American citizens I teach. They should be granted residency but not citizenship.

    July 5, 2012 at 12:21 pm |
    • Tom

@Nancy: "No child has the opportunity to choose his/her parents. The child should not be punished for the parents' mistakes." You are write that the child does not choose the parents, but the fact is, children ARE punished for the parents mistakes... If a parent commits a crime and is sent to jail, the child is being punished, right? So are you saying that no one should be sent to jail for any crime if they have children? If we accept your logic, then where do we draw the line in letting parents break our laws so that their children are not punished?

    >From the L. A. Times

(All 10 of the above statements are from the Los Angeles Times)

Less than 2% of illegal aliens are picking our crops, but 29% are on welfare.

Thank you for let us know I know the number are just as bad in Texas if not worst. Here, they from other states that are getting harder on them. If they want to be here WORK,PAY FOR HAVING YOUR CHILDREN , NOTHING FOR FREE AND GET YOUR PAPERS IN ORDER LIKE EVERYONE ELSE DID AND DOES. They need to pay taxes or we all stop paying for them to have children, feed them at home and at school, go to any welfare office and see how many are ther applying and getting benefits for these children which may of our own U.S. citizens can not get because of the unemployment that they receive puts them over the limits by 2-3 dollars and told to not get unemployment and they maybe eligible for benefits.

I am finally glad someone else stated these facts fro the LA Tiems. Libs- go see for yourself. Live in LA or Arizona and see for yourself how the illegals are sucking the taxpayers dry. Maybe you should be one of these taxpayers, and you would not be so whinny!

  10. Mile Hi Dave

Maybe their parents should have thought about the consequences of their actions, like I do every day regarding the welfare of my child...

    July 5, 2012 at 12:05 pm |
    • SammFan

The thought thoroughly about their actions. That's why they came across the border to bare their children, to create this quandary where we wouldn't send them back. Just like some pregnant women/husbands, sit in the parking lot at their favorite hospital until it's "too late" to be sent 20 minutes away to the hospital that takes Medicaid. They know what they want and they know how to work people's good intentions to get it.

A certain class in America has been avoiding work since slavery and it's racist in their intent.
    They know who they are

Excuse you..........Look around there are plenty of blacks working as whom I suspect you are talking about. What a racist generalization you have made. There are people from all races who will try to float by on other people's dimes and your race is included no matter what color you are.

Sorry but giving citizenship to children born in America to 2 illegal parents is just wrong. No other country in the world has this policy. This country can no loger afford to take on the worlds problems. That 14th Amendment needs to be clarified not to include children of ilolegal parents.

Funny how people like you belonging to the lucky sperm club wants to take away rights of kids born in this country who are already American Citizens. It is people like you who are the biggest complainers actually are the ones more likely the laziest Americans probably on Welfare and food stamps. You dont like hard working immigrants making you look so bad.

If you were referring to my comment you couldn’t be further from the truth. My family came to this country legally. They were vetted, inspected, and tested. My entire family has worked hard and I myself work more than 40 hours a week. Giving citizenship to the children of illegals is just plain wrong and that needs to change.

        July 5, 2012 at 11:58 am |
      • mary

Why is it that you are for illegals, may great grandparents paid to come accross and when the depression happened they were not eligilbe for any help. Why do we feed, give them clothes, free lunch at schooll, free transportation, medical when you and i can not get anything. Our full income is counted and theirs is not. Look into what Mexico and other countries say and do to illegals in their country before you talk. Mexcio will not feed,or anything to a non citizen and you can not protest against that country.

I just addressed this issue in my book Show Trials, which focuses on the failed immigration system and how citizen children are not afforded fair process when they are in effect deported without due consideration of their interests. They cannot just return to America years later when they are then foreig ers in their own birth land.

Wah, wah, wah! If Daddy's illegai and Momma's illegal then their spawn should be illegal also. The 14th ammendment was written for children of those brought here against their will. Not for an Army of leeches trying to destroy our way of life.
